AUSTIN, Texas — More than 85,000 pounds of ready-to-eat sliced prosciutto is being recalled nationwide, including in Texas.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the German-produced sliced prosciutto ham has been recalled after not being inspected properly.
The prosciutto was shipped to multiple retail stores in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
The USDA said they were notified that nearly 86,000 pounds were not properly inspected before being exported to the U.S. for distribution. Thankfully, no adverse reactions to eating the prosciutto have been reported.
A list of affected lots is available on the USDA's website and consumers are urged not to eat it. If you've purchased the recalled prosciutto, you're urged to throw it away or return it to where it was purchased for a refund.
The USDA also said if you're concerned about a reaction to the prosciutto, to contact your health care provider.
