AUSTIN, Texas — The weekend is upon us and, as always, there are a ton of things going on in the Austin area! From psych and blues festivals to a party celebrating a cartoon donkey, there's no shortage of fun activities happening over the next few days.
Here’s a breakdown of just some of the events you can attend this weekend.
Austin Psych Fest will feature a lineup of psych rock, indie rock and dream pop bands, including Courtney Barnett, The Black Angels, Alvvays, Kurt Vile and the Violators and more than two dozen others. The event will also include visuals and installations by Mad Alchemy, TV Eye and drip//cuts. And don't forget about the night shows!
Three-day passes, single-day tickets and tickets to individual night shows are all available online.
When: Doors and DJs start at 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Sets begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday, 3:15 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday
Where: The Far Out Lounge & Stage, located at 8504 S. Congress Ave.
Antone's Nightclub and Waterloo Greenway are partnering to host the Austin Blues Festival this weekend at the Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park. The festival is set to include major names in blues like Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan and Brittany Howard and many more.
Two-day passes and single-day tickets are still available.
When: Saturday and Sunday, starting at 1 p.m. both days
Where: Waterloo Park, located at 500 E. 12th St.
What: First held in 1963, this wonderfully weird gathering honoring everyone's favorite melancholy donkey is an Austin staple. Always free to attend, Eeyore's Birthday Party takes place at Pease District Park and functions as a fundraiser operated by the Friends of the Forest Foundation to benefit local nonprofits.
Expect games, crafts, face painting, wild outfits and a lot of carefree vibes.
When: Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Pease District Park, located at 1100 Kingsbury St.
